Jacobs, Bradshaw help Giants run over Ravens

Football Betting Lines

11/16/2008 - East Rutherford, NJ (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw powered a Giants rushing attack that piled up 207 yards on the vaunted Ravens run defense, as New York kept rolling with a 30-10 pounding of Baltimore.

Jacobs gained 73 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns on the ground, while Bradshaw gained 96 yards on nine carries for the Giants (9-1), who won their fifth straight after their lone loss of the season, at Cleveland on October 13.

Eli Manning completed 13-of-23 passes for 153 yards with one touchdown and one interception, and Aaron Ross returned a tipped pass 50 yards for a touchdown for New York.

Joe Flacco completed 20-of-33 passes for 164 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for the Ravens (6-4), who had won four straight. Derrick Mason had seven catches for 82 yards, but it was his drop that led to Ross' interception in the third quarter.

With the loss the Ravens fell out of a first-place tie in the AFC North with the Steelers. Pittsburgh hosted San Diego on Sunday.

After being pushed up and down the field in the first half, the Ravens climbed back into the game in the third quarter. Flacco led Baltimore on a 13-play, 79-yard drive, which he finished with a 10-yard scoring pass to LeRon McClain. The touchdown cut the Giants lead to 20-10 with 4:26 left in the third.

The Ravens defense held, and Flacco and Co. took the field looking to pull within one score of the Giants. A miscue by Mason allowed Ross and the Giants to regain the momentum, though.

On 2nd-and-5 at the Baltimore 47, Flacco threw a short pass to his left to Mason, who bobbled the ball up in the air. Ross stepped in for the interception, and ran it back 50 yards for the backbreaking score, giving the Giants a 27-10 lead with 14 seconds left in the third quarter.

A 77-yard run by Bradshaw early in the fourth quarter set up a 19-yard Lawrence Tynes field goal, and the Giants took a commanding 20-point lead with 12:02 to play.

The Ravens defense entered Sunday leading the NFL in rushing defense, having allowed just 65.4 yards per game on the ground this season, and just one rushing touchdown. New York surpassed those numbers in the first half.

The Giants came out and imposed their will on the Ravens, building a 20-0 lead with their powerful running game. Jacobs bounced off would-be tacklers and gained 36 yards on New York's second offensive play, and burst into the end zone from one yard out to cap that drive and put the Giants on top.

The Ravens answered by driving to the Giants 13, but Matt Stover's 32-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Fred Robbins. The ball was kicked by Giants defenders all the way back to the Baltimore 33.

Manning was picked off by Fabian Washington two plays later, but an offsides penalty on Justin Bannan negated the pick. Four plays later Jacobs dove in for another one-yard touchdown run. A bobbled snap prevented Tynes from kicking the extra point, and New York led 13-0 with 59 seconds left in the first.

The Giants pounded out a 12-play, 90-yard drive in the second quarter, capped by a one-yard TD pass from Manning to Darcy Johnson for a 20-0 New York lead with 7:14 left in the half.

Stover's 38-yard field goal got the Ravens on the board, but they still trailed 20-3 at the half. The Giants had a chance for more points at the end of the second quarter, but on 1st-and-10 at the Baltimore 18, Manning was picked off by Ray Lewis at the six-yard-line.

Game Notes

Stover set the NFL record for consecutive PATs made with his extra point after McClain's touchdown in the third quarter. The PAT was Stover's 372nd consecutive, breaking a tie with Jason Elam and Jeff Wilkins...Giants kicker John Carney was inactive for the game. The league's oldest player at 44, Carney was signed to fill in for Tynes, who suffered a knee injury prior to the season. Tynes returned to action for the Giants last week, but just handled kickoffs.

NFL ODDSTop Football Betting Free Agents to Change Teams

NFL Betting

It’s time to see how the biggest NFL free agent signings will perform for their news teams. Some will work out and could be the difference that makes a difference in the win column.

We look at the best off-season signings and if they should influence your NFL betting this season. Julius Peppers – Peppers was the biggest prize available on the 2010 NFL free agent market and the Chicago Bears opened the bank to bring his talents to the south side.

Peppers is explosive, he can get around blockers and cause quarterbacks to lose their minds. We all remember the classic Peppers game last year against the Vikings where he hounded Brett Favre into his worst game of the season. Peppers joining the Bears could be the reason Favre retired for good Tuesday morning. In addition to Peppers, the Bears added Chester Taylor to back up Matt Forte, Forte didn’t have the same intensity in 2009 compared to 2008 and bringing in Taylor will challenge Forte to bring it every game or he’ll risk losing carries to Taylor.

Betting on the Bears is a good option this season because of Julius Peppers and to a lesser extent Taylor. Antonio Bryant and Terrell Owens – The Cincinnati Bengals signed two former number one wide receivers to line up with Chad Ocho Cinco. Antonio Bryant had a huge season in 2008 catching 83 passes for over 1200 yards but regressed last season. Playing for the Tampa Bay Bucs last season was a large part of the regression, everyone was bad in TB last season.

Bryant should have a bounce back season if he can win the number two spot from Terrell Owens. If Bryant wins the number 2 WR spot, it will open up a completely new set of problems for the Bengals. If Owens is forced to the bench in favor of Bryant, his attitude will create trouble for Carson Palmer and head coach Marv Lewis. If Owens is the number two receiver, it means Bryant can’t live up to his past numbers and the Bengals are still limited in the passing game. NFL bettors should be wary of laying their money down on what could potentially be the biggest gong show in the league in 2010. 2010 football betting lines for this can be found at this top online sportsbook. Karlos Danby – The Miami Dolphins have a great running back tandem in Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, a good young QB in Chad Henne and now the Bill Parcells regime is building a solid defense.

NFL bettors should be wary of laying their money down on what could potentially be the biggest gong show in the league in 2010. Karlos Danby – The Miami Dolphins have a great running back tandem in Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, a good young QB in Chad Henne and now the Bill Parcells regime is building a solid defense. They signed away the Arizona Cardinals top linebacker Karlos Danby. In the past two seasons, Danby has totaled 228 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles. The Dolphins are the forgotten team of the AFC East with the second longest odds to win the division but with the addition of Karlos Danby and a trade for WR Brandon Marshall makes the Miami Dolphins legitimate contenders in the AFC East and in the NFL’s Eastern Conference.

The Dolphins will make NFL wagering fans a lot of money this season, get in early and enjoy the cash.
